Obituary for Larry Gene Kerr

Mr. Larry Kerr, age 78 of Winnsboro, passed away on Wednesday, June 15th, 2016 in Winnsboro. He was born on July 15th, 1937 in Concordia, KS to the late Dale O. Kerr and Marjorie Brown Kerr. He was a retired U.S. Marine Sergeant, serving honorably for 25 years, including three tours in Vietnam. He later worked as a contractor, was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion, and a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carrie Kerr; and brother, Dale Kerr. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Rita Jo Ball Kerr of Winnsboro; son Brett Kerr and wife Melanie of Tomball; daughters,Robin Hyder of San Bernadino, Sherrie Martin and husband Jimmy of Portland, OR.; step-children, Larry Sewell and wife Denise of Gilmer, Andrea Taylor and husband Larry of Decatur, Tamara Payne and husband Gerald of Princeton; brother, Robert Kerr and wife Brenda of Scroggins; sisters, Debbie Shepeard of Scroggins, Karen Horne and husband Ken of Springfield, MO.; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mt. Vernon VFW Post 3992 on Lake Cypress Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VFW National Home For Children.
